One of the first things when certain people get in a car is not just wearing a seatbelt, not adjusting their seating position, not starting the car; it is in fact getting the AUX chord, connecting your phone and playing whatever you like. I haven’t got a licence yet, but even if I did I’d probably be blasting music so here are a few tracks that I would most definitely play inside the car.

JUICE WLRD – LEAN WIT ME

This is my personal favourite song from the late rapper (R.I.P) because I just love the guitars, the distorted 808s and the gorgeous harmonizing along the track which is also notable on the outro too. But for me it’s a much better listening experience when my phone is connected to the car and the song just plays and everything great about this track is just even more powerful.

EMINEM – BEZERK

This song may not have any bass drums – it is in fact a rock instrumental mixed with boom bap – but it still goes to town. I just love the ridiculous flows and verses throughout, and there are some moments that made me giggle inside; I feel like these factors themselves make the song hit hard and that “I don’t give a damn” chorus – it’s just one of the greatest things to happen. This song really encourages me to have a happy journey.

THE WEEKND – PARTY MONSTER

The track does speak for the title and sounds like the perfect track to play at a party. This track works best in the night, and although it could be dangerous, it still fits the whole aesthetic. I can also incorporate that same energy of the track when I’m just casually having fun too, so it works with that. I also enjoy the upbeat yet haunting vibe from the beat, as well as the vocals, which alone is fantastic through the car speakers.

YOUNG THUG – JUMPED OUT THE WINDOW

I really enjoy the hard hitting pianos and the kicks along the track which provide a “fun” atmosphere for the album “So Much Fun”. This song wouldn’t just be good for blasting out loud in car meets, but it would also be good for a party atmosphere. This fun and aggressive atmosphere really surrounds you once your phone has been connected.

THAIBOY DIGITAL – DIAMONDS FEAT. YUNG LEAN

I think this song is catchy and I really enjoy the melodies on here and the glistening trap beat which is pretty good considering this song was released in 2014. The 808s and the synths further amplify the track’s enjoyment and this song has been on repeat for a while, just imagine playing these through some quality Bose speakers and the whole song hits differently.

TRIPPIE REDD – THE GRINCH

This is the list’s shortest song; lasting only 1:32. However, it certainly has power because, for one I really enjoy the atmospheric but aggressive angry menacing sounding 808s, and the synths also give it that mysterious vibe. I also greatly enjoy the switch up in the flows as it starts off gloomy, but he then starts shouting which, as someone who purely creates melodies, is a nice switch up and the short time was well-utilised. This whole song hits even harder when my phone is plugged into the car.

KENDRICK LAMAR – BACKSEAT FREESTYLE

This song goes hard on so many levels and I enjoy how the light bass kicks, the bells and the plucky snares help create this aggressive tone. I also enjoy the flow switch ups after each verse, the third verse being my favourite because I like the core aggression in the verse and the transition into a speed flow. I think every aspect of this song is perfect for a good old listen inside a car.

NIGHT LOVELL – OFF AIR

This is the sort of music that’s made to be played through car speakers, hence why people tend to listen to this song in car meets. As soon as I listen to this song, I can just imagine Mercedes C63 AMGs and Nissan Skylines drifting around and cruising in high speed. I also enjoy the sound of the mysterious synths, the thick textured bass drums and the cold delivery – and thanks to its atmosphere it makes it so good to listen to in the car.
