The New Year is the perfect time to tackle the task of going through your wardrobe to see what you will actually wear and what you might want to replace. You may surprise yourself and find pieces that really aren’t your style anymore and once you’ve sorted through it, you’ll not only have more space to buy new clothes, but it will be easier to create outfits as you will have a much better understanding of what you’re working with!
Most importantly, you must be honest and strict with yourself. Take everything out and thoroughly go through each item.
How long was it since you last wore this? Will there really ever be an occasion for you to wear this to? Does this actually fit you well? All these are things to consider when deciding what you want to keep and what you should let go.
Once you have a collection of things to part with, there are a few ways of disposing of them, depending on their condition. To ensure sustainability, items that are too old and worn out should be taken to a fabric recycling centre, and any other things that could still be used can be donated to charity shops or sold on using sites like Depop. You might also like to let your friends go through and see if there is anything they’d like too!
