It’s January and it’s time for vegan season, and one of the UK’s biggest campaigns to grace this time of year; Veganuary is a non-profit organisation that encourages people to stick to a plant-based diet throughout the month.
Now more than ever, it is completely drilled into us that we must make more of a conscious effort to take care of our environment, and as much as people do not want to hear it, the best way to reduce your harmful impact on the planet and lower your carbon footprint is to avoid animal products. Changes must happen, and taking part in Veganuary is a great way to get started.
It may seem difficult at first, but everyone doing it together is a great incentive to participate, there is a huge community online which can motivate you to keep going. After stuffing your faces with turkey at Christmas, it will be challenging to completely get rid of animal products from your diet, but don’t worry, you’ll easily be able to find encouragement in the idea that you’re not doing it alone, maybe get a friend to try it with you?
As well as that, sooo many restaurants, manufacturers and supermarkets get involved in Veganuary in order to meet the demand. I know that there are more products on the market now than ever before, but it is EVEN easier throughout January to find alternatives. Nothing feels better than knowing that you are eating something delicious, as well as cruelty free.
January 2019 saw a record number of 250,000 people signing up for the Veganuary movement and I really hope that you all consider taking part this year to increase those numbers further. Enjoy the challenge, protect the environment, prevent animal suffering, improve your health and make a difference; personally, I think everyone who will, will be pleasantly surprised. Who knows, you could love it and 2020 could be the year of the vegans, helping massive differences to be made.
