A weekend away is always relaxing and beneficial as it gives us time to relax. My last adventure was a week ago when me and my friend decided to go to Cardiff for the weekend. Having the weekend off from university work and my part-time job increased my motivation and excitement for the trip. The journey was not too long, only 4 hours by car and without realising how the time flew we arrived. We chose Cardiff as we both had some friends that we wanted to meet, and I managed to see some childhood friends who I hadn’t seen for a long time.

For a tourist attraction, Cardiff has some amazing places to see and in the short time that I spent there, I managed to see the university and what impressed me the most was the student union. They had allocated an entire building with multiple floors to the student union. Cafes, restaurants and even a bistro were located in there, apart from the actual study spaces which were very modern and cosy for both teamwork or just individual study.

What impressed me as well in Cardiff were the numerous food places and as my friend from Ipswich was at university in Cardiff, he took me to a breakfast place. We both enjoyed some tasty omelettes with a side of chips and some salad for a decent price. The place was not fancy but was full of people, especially students, a vibe that I didn’t experience in Ipswich.

Being a bigger city than Ipswich, I wasn’t surprised that there were so many options when we went shopping. Hollister and Gap were shops I was particularly looking forward to as the quality is better and the material is softer.

What Cardiff brought me was childhood memories through my friends as we ended up talking about feelings that we had in high school and how our lives changed once we came to the UK. Spending some time with them was valuable and I feel very lucky that I managed to see them.

For me travelling is something that I can do anytime as long as it is well planned. When going away thinking about accommodation, budget for money and other expenses and Cardiff taught me that I need to be more careful when planning trips like this.
