What is motivation? I could search the definition, or better yet, I could tell you what it is to me. Everyone has a different definition for motivation. But I think you and I can both agree that it is something or someone that drives you to do better
For me, motivation is tied closely to my future, family and friends. Is it important? Of course, because it is your drive. It’s the piece of bacon on the end of a stick encouraging a dog to run.
Some people have never really thought about what motivates them. It’s not always clear cut for some. I have multiple people who motivate me. The people I love motivate me the most.
They constantly reassure me I’ve done everything I could, they encourage me to look on the brighter side, they are everything. But strangers also have the ability to motivate me. Sometimes, you read someone else’s story, and it inspires you. I always think, if they can do it, why can’t I? Don’t confuse motivation for envy or jealousy. I don’t simply look at someone’s lifestyle and think “I want that”. No, it’s different. Instead, I look at someone’s lifestyle and think, “With enough determination and hard work, I could be in a similar position to them, maybe even better.”
Everything I do in this moment, in the present, will have a direct impact towards the future. So that motivates me to make the most of today, and every single day. It motivates me to try and do the best I can do, because that’s all you can really do. And honestly? It’s more than enough.
I can’t highlight a time in which I was most motivated, due to the fact that as more days go by, the more things I find to motivate me. The more people I meet, the deeper the connections I get. It is a constant motivation. And I am confident enough to say, I am my own motivation. Crazy, right? I’m the fuel to my own fire. I want to do the best I can do for me and also, for everyone around me.
