We are all aware that the holidays are approaching, whichever festivities you celebrate, the stress of said festivities is universal. This is a PSA to the LGBTQ+ community during the holidays, specifically those whose sexuality or gender isn’t accepted by their families.
You are strong. You matter. You are not alone.
Coming out to your family and friends is one of the most difficult things you can do. Whether you have come out or not, there is an element of worry around these times because not everybody is accepting.
Below I have found some helplines you can contact, if you ever feel the need to. Do not suffer alone, we aren’t just a community. We are a family.
National Lesbian and Gay Switchboard: – 0300 330 0630 (10am to 11pm)
National LGBT Domestic Abuse Helpline: 0800 999 5428
LGBT Foundation: 0845 3 30 30 30 or 0161 235 8035 (10am-10pm, daily)

If you are homeless or have no one during the holidays, please contact Crisis. They are an organisation that try to provide shelter for those during the holidays. Contact: 020 7426 5685 and hopefully you’ll have a place to celebrate. Try Akt if there are no vacancies here, they will try their hardest in supporting LGBTQ youths.
For those of you that wish to send in any questions to be answered in the LGBTQ+ segment or wish to voice your ideas/opinions, you can now Whatsapp or text Student Life at: 07943 605468
