I have owned the Pros for a couple of weeks now and I really do not regret buying them. I originally wanted to get them due to the feature of Active Noise Cancellation. I use public transport frequently and with the 2nd Gen AirPods I was using, the noise of the bus was still so loud. Now, if I activate noise cancelling mode, I can’t hear it at all, and I can just focus on my music. But there are so many other great things.

The main physical differences between the standard AirPods and the Pros are the new silicone tips and the length of the stem. On the 1st and 2nd Gens, they respond to double tapping to skip songs, which I always found quite intermittent. Now, you can squeeze the stem (force sensors) on either side. A single squeeze is to pause/resume a song or to pick up a phone call. A double squeeze is to skip songs, a triple squeeze is to skip back, and a long squeeze is to switch between the 3 modes. This is easy to do despite the stem being fairly close to your face. One mode I already mentioned is Noise Cancellation which uses an inward facing microphone. Another is Transparency. This mode is perfect if you want to hear important outside noises whilst focusing on your music. Then the ‘Off’ mode is just a balance between the two. You can still hear things around you but not clearly.

I have owned pairs of headphones with silicone tips before and they never fit my ear shape, they would always fall out after only a few minutes of use. But I haven’t had that with these earphones. But even if I had done, they come with two alternative sizes, small and large, just in case the regular size doesn’t suit your ears. They aren’t uncomfortable either. I found with the 2nd Gen AirPods that my ears would start hurting after long use, but again, I haven’t had that with the Pros.

They also charge very quickly yet last for a long time. For example, if you charge them for 5 minutes, you get an hour of talk time

So, overall, I would highly recommend the change from 1st/2nd Gens to the Pros.
