I love Autumn! With the golden-brown leaves falling off the trees and the crisp cool air lingering, it is definitely my favourite time of year! It’s the time where staying in and having early nights becomes acceptable. Where lounge-wear becomes permanent wear and a multitude of novelty hats, scarfs and gloves grace the clothing stores.
Below I’ve listed 5 of my favourite things about Autumn! Can you relate or add any to my list?
1. SEASONAL HOT DRINKS
It’s the return of the seasonal lattes, mochas and hot chocolates and I’m so excited! Previous favourites have been Starbuck’s Caramelised Pecan Latte and this year I’m enjoying the Costa Hazelnut and Praline Cream! I always look forward to seeing the flavours that different coffee shops bring out. I’m a sucker for a Toffee Nut latte! Supermarkets also stock instant coffee sachets in various seasonal flavours too! Perfect if you want to fill up a flask before you start your day as well as being a much cheaper option. I recommend the Nescafe flavours! In particular the gingerbread latte and salted toffee & macadamia mocha!
2. BIG JUMPERS
Finally, I can dig out my big cosy warm, woolly jumpers from my wardrobe! I absolutely love the autumn fashion trends and nothing is more satisfying than a big jumper paired with some leggings or black jeans. What I particularly love is this style can be dressed up or down with accessories, making it versatile for any occasion. I have quite a few jumpers, ranging from short to long/dresses and they are the easiest thing to chuck on, on a cold day! Some of my favourite and most affordable purchases have come from charity shops, New Look and George at Asda!
3. FALL BOOTS
To add to my autumn shoe collection of staple military style boots, I have a gorgeous pair of thigh high, black suede boots from New Look. I bought them a couple of years ago now retailing at £44.99! I love these shoes and have worn them with a leather skirt but they could easily work with smart jeans too. Maybe even with a big cosy jumper! I can see these boots lasting me a long time and becoming a real staple item for my autumn wardrobe!
4. COSY NIGHTS
While I love a wild night out, sometimes the cold weather acts as a deterrent and I’d rather be snuggled up on the sofa, hot chocolate in hand, binge watching a Netflix original series! Cosy nights in can be just as much fun and often are cheaper (unless you’re buying in all the takeaway food, ever). You don’t even have to spend them alone- invite friends over and host a movie night or games night and I promise you; the hours will just tick away! Whoever needed a wild Saturday night out when you can have a
wild Saturday night in watching celebrity X Factor??!!
5. PICTURESQUE WALKS
Donned with my thick boots and cosy jumper, the perfect way to view autumn is by taking a leisurely (or brisk depending on how cold it is!) walk. I’m fortunate that where I live, I have easy access to fields and shores but this is a great season to visit a country park or forest area and really soak up nature. There’s something relaxing about walking with no real sense of direction, flask in hand as the cool breeze hits your face. It’s the perfect time for self-reflection and self-care, or a walk with a friend, loved one or even a little doggy! Whenever I feel like I need to unravel my head, I take a walk. It helps me focus on what’s important in life and I come home feeling refreshed and ready to go!
