“I never paint dreams or nightmares. I paint my own reality” Frida Kahlo

Young people’s creativity has never been as important as it is now. Despite course work being almost entirely taken out of the education system, the creative arts will always hold a special place for young people in Suffolk. Whether it be through the climate protests, or by exploring extra-curricular activities, creative skills have allowed young people to explore their strengths and widen job opportunities.

The BLOC team are a group of youth led people from Suffolk who believe creativity should be celebrated far more than it already is. Whether it be poetry, music, dance, artwork, speeches or comedy, we want young people to show off their creative skills and be part of an amazing community that celebrates your strengths outside of the classroom.

We’re a holding an event where young people can showcase their talents. The Takeover Festival is happening on Saturday 9th November at Ipswich Library, with workshops running from 11am to 5pm, and live music from 6:30pm to 11pm.

We can all agree that celebrating creative strengths is incredibly important for giving young people the best chance to be successful in what they want to achieve.

If you love to make music, craft poetry, create artwork or just perform, then please email arts@suffolklibraries.co.uk to find out how you can get involved in the Takeover Festival.
