I never knew before this session that Student Nights existed! I often see friends who are studying hair and beauty, ask for models to practice on free of charge or at a very discounted rate. I never knew that these types of things were open to the public so I was very excited to take part!
John Olivers as a company always seem to go above and beyond with their customer care. From their staff down to their hot drinks, I have always found myself coming out of my appointments feeling very pampered and well looked-after! This definitely did not differ in the apprenticeship session!
I was greeted on arrival by the lovely Rachael and offered a cup of tea. I was then taken upstairs by Arianna, my hairdresser for the afternoon. Arianna is in her second year of hairdressing apprenticeship and previously worked at the salon on Great Colman Street before she started her qualification. She was kind and bubbly from the minute she escorted me upstairs.
I asked for a wash, cut and blowdry as this is my normal favourite when getting my haircut. I have fairly long and thick hair so it can be a task in itself! I also have layers in my hair so felt I was a good candidate for teaching (if I do say so myself!).
We went straight in to wash my hair and Arianna’s attention to detail was excellent. She always made sure to ask me if the temperature was ok, put the massager on the chair for me and even gave me a head massage. I was truly spoilt! She also made sure to tell me each stage she was doing when washing my hair, to make sure I knew what she was putting on it!
When we went through and Arianna started cutting my hair, I felt in safe hands. She was professional at all times and did a really good job! Although the haircut session is longer than your usual haircut due to the nature of teaching, I felt happy to be a part of it and Arianna even passed two of her exams whilst cutting my hair!
The student nights are a great way to get involved in the apprentices’ learning journey and at a heavily discounted price. It is definitely something worth looking in to if you don’t know about it already!
